7 Apr 2016 – In Kenya, there are two dominant media houses responsible for the majority of print publications in the country, being the Nation Media Group and the Standard Group. So says Willem Maritz, media assistant at Target Media Directory.
The Nation Media Group publishes
The Daily Nation,
Business Daily,
Taifa Leo and
The East African newspapers and is a powerhouse publisher, one of the largest publishers in Kenya and a major player on the African continent.
The Standard Group’s primary newspaper is
The Standard, which is accompanied by its Saturday and Sunday editions of the title. The Standard Group also publishes The Nairobian.
The Daily Nation and
The Standard are Kenya’s two independent national newspapers.
In terms of media production, Kenya is one of the largest national media markets monitored by Newsclip. This includes 20 newspapers, seven magazines and 74 websites, covering the beats of current affairs, business, lifestyle and sport.

Traveller Msafiri: A premium lifestyle/travel magazine, Traveller Msafiri is distributed to Kenya Airways passengers on board local, regional, and international flights. It can also be accessed throughout Kenya and internationally through their website.
Agri Business Africa: A monthly magazine, Agri Business Africa is considered a primary resource on matters of policy, technology, and trends pertaining to African agriculture and agribusiness.
Futaa.com: A website dedicated to all things football, Futaa.com primarily provides coverage of Kenyan and African football, including news and results.
The Star (Kenya): A daily newspaper, The Star is distributed across Kenya. Usually just shy of 50 pages, the newspaper covers news both local and international, business, politics, celebrities and entertainment, lifestyle and sport.
Homes Kenya Magazine: A property development and home publication, the focus of Homes Kenya is on the property market and home décor.
Capitalfm.co.ke: This news website covers developments in Kenya, Africa and the rest of the world in the worlds of crime, politics, business, sports, lifestyle, TV, radio, and entertainment.
